I've always known Tony's family, his aunts used to babysit me when I was teeny, his Mom worked with my Mom and they've always been good friends even before I was born. Growing up I didn't see Tony often, I knew what he looked like but he always seemed so serious and we never talked or spent much time together but I did think he was pretty cute. Fast forward twenty or so years and last I knew Tony went to the Marines and came home after a military career ending injury.
In the past few years my Mom became closer (due to life circumstances) to one of Tony's aunts and began to frequent his family, including his aunts and his Mom more often. July of 2013 my Mom was invited to a BBQ at Lake Mendocino with Tony's family (she was also invited to go camping the month after that with them as well). Before she left she invited me and I tagged along, I had no plans that day and I have always been known to go places with my Momma anyways. We arrive at Tony's house before the lake. He wasn't there yet and I stood on the front porch for a while. Then I see a black BMW pull up and I wonder "is that him?" Well it was Tony and he was all grown up, tall, tan and easy on the eyes so naturally I avoided eye contact and he didn't recognize me. My Mom managed to "re-introduce" us and it was very awkward.
We get to the lake and it took three hours to start talking to each other but when we did we could not stop. It sounds crazy but at the end of that day I knew I was going to marry him. He left before I left with my Mom and I was genuinely sad to see him go. But when I got home I had a Facebook friend request, we started messaging, texting and spending lots of time together. A couple short weeks after that BBQ, Tony asked me to be his girlfriend. Oh and that camping trip the month after the BBQ my Mom was invited to? Well I tagged along too and a week after that camping trip with his family, in August, Tony and I went to Yosemite National Park.

Fast forward to March 21, 2014, exactly eight months after he became my boyfriend, Tony proposed!

We married May 16, 2014 in a simple civil ceremony because that was all that we could afford.
I am more in love with my husband today than I am the day I married him. I don't take for granted having an amazing husband and best friend.
We currently reside in our tiny loft apartment with our three furball babies, Reptar, Maximus Beau and Leonidas.
